
A Show About the Show (and a Damn Good Drink)
In Episode 122 of Manic Joy, we did something a little different. Instead of diving into a theme like love or uncertainty, we turned the spotlight on the show itself.
Over a couple of El Diablos (more on that below), we shared how we’ve been using AI to reflect on Manic Joy, brainstorm new recurring segments, and think about what this podcast really means to us—and one day, to our daughters.
It’s equal parts production meeting, cocktail hour, and heartfelt therapy session (as usual).

Featured Cocktail: El Diablo
This spicy-sweet tequila cocktail made its Manic Joy debut in this episode, and it did not disappoint. Here’s how to make your own:
🥃 El Diablo
Ingredients
• 2 oz Reposado tequila
• 1/2 oz Crème de cassis (a sweet blackcurrant liqueur)
• 1/2 oz fresh lime juice
• Ginger beer (to top)
• Lime wedge, blackberry, or candied ginger (for garnish)
Instructions
1. Fill a highball or Collins glass with ice.
2. Add tequila, crème de cassis, and lime juice.
3. Top with ginger beer.
4. Stir gently.
5. Garnish with a lime wedge, a blackberry, or a piece of candied ginger.
6. Enjoy slowly—especially if you’re prone to straw-fueled rapid sipping like Reese.
This one’s a perfect sipper for warm days, good conversation, or when you’re feeling a little devilish.
